Himalayan Moondrops Oolong 2019
The Garden
Jun Chiyabari perches in the heights of Hile, Nepal, in the foothills of the Himalayas, reaching over 6,000ft. The garden was founded in 2000 by two bothers, Lochan and Bachan, grown organically from the start. There are a variety of tea cultivars at Jun Chiyabari, and a philosophy of experimentation.
This Batch
Batch J66, is a light to medium oxidised oolong tea, picked on the 25th April, at 6,050ft. Just 5kg were made. It’s made in a classic oolong style; withered, bruised, oxidised, panned, and rolled.
Tasting Notes
Tastes like milk chocolate, fruit, and nuts. This tea is naturally sweet and starts with juicy fruit and raisins. As it opens, the nuttiness and creamy sweet character emerge with a touch of cocoa. After infusing, allow the tea 5 to 7 minutes to open for the full flavour to emerge. The second infusion is better than the first.
